Steller comeback or gaping void?

The furore surrounding the validity of the continuing collaboration between two of rock's biggest names will probably never dissapate entirely, but the fact that original material now exists should stand as a full stop to most wranglings from fans and casual observers alike.

The Cosmos Rocks is undeniably patchy (as were all Queen albums, remember), but the band does rise to the occasion more than once, with Some Things That Glitter offering a familiar piano-fuelled arrangement and some lovely guitar from Brian May.

Elsewhere Surf's Up...School's Out is far better than the toe curling title would suggest and the lyrical pomposity of We Believe is rescued by a wonderful lead vocal from Rodgers: All in all the album does exactly what it says on the tin.

Standout Tracks: Some Things That Glitter, C-Lebrity, Through The Night
