Here We Are: Not Queen But Queen + Paul Rodgers!
Today I treated myself to "The Cosmos Rocks," the new album from Queen and Paul Rodgers, not Queen any more. These are 2 distinct entities now. Of course we don't forget about Freddie, but according to me, here it's just like a new start, a new life.
This album is made of excellent traditional rock music, with many different tracks including some rock ballads in which Paul Rodgers 's voice (ex Free and Bad Company) is extraordinary and I can state that here, once and for all, he took his revenge against all his detractors.
There is also some good blues in it, blues like in the old times, played in the old way and there's Brian May's devastating guitar showing and reminding us that he is still one of the best guitarists in the world. Perfect timing from Roger Taylor, too. It's a shame Deacon is not there, so much the worse for him!
I'm terribly sorry I didn't buy the tickets for the Milan show this time .... I was too disappointed when I saw them in Pesaro during the last tour.
Listen to me guys, this album is really wonderful. And Paul Rodgers's voice seems to be even better than it was in the past with his old groups.
My congratulations to all the band members, to EMI Italy (for once) and to Professor May who said he had nothing to lose and that, in his 60s, he brought back some excellent music by enhancing everyone's superlative skills without any fear or doubt and bringing them in the limelight.
Lucky you, if you get a chance to go and see them live. Nothing to do with karaoke.
We shouldn't forget that Freddie himself would have liked to see Queen go on living and playing. They paid tribute to him in their best way doing him justice and, above all, they did justice to themselves.
Long live music, rock on!
Enjoy this album!
